About Paul Gale-Baker
B.A., Dip.Ed., M.Counselling.
I AM NOW OFFERING CLIENT SESSIONS VIA PHONE OR SKYPE
With the current crisis requiring extra precautions, I am now offering consultation using Skype or phone instead of face-to-face. I am familiar with using both these methods with clients and they can be a satisfactory way of dealing with counselling issues. If you would like a phone or Skype session, call me on 0408733683.
I am a fully qualified and experienced relationship, couple and marriage counsellor and therapist in private practice in Macleod, near Heidelberg, Melbourne. Previously I worked from our centre in Alphington.
I am passionate about relationships and genuinely enthusiastic about helping couples have happier and more satisfying relationships. I have been working as a counsellor for over 20 years, including 12 years working with Relationships Australia.
I work using a range of approaches. Each couple is different and the way we work depends on what is most suitable for the couple. I work alongside the couple, taking into account what feels helpful and useful to them. I work collaboratively, knowing that couples are very able to help themselves once we have identified key issues and patterns in the relationship.
I am trained in family therapy, family-sensitive counselling, couple therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I hold a Master of Counselling degree (La Trobe). I am a certified Psychological Type practitioner (Cailloux-Cauvin Type Indicator®) and an Advanced ACT Mindfulness practitioner. Other training includes over 20 years’ study of the Voice Dialogue Method (a communication and self-exploration tool), which I use in my practice and teach to professionals.
I am committed to ensuring the work I do is effective and meets best-practice standards. To this end I maintain an ongoing professional development program, including study of the latest research. In my Masters degree I completed new research into couples’ therapy using Voice Dialogue.
Paul Gale-Baker – Other Experience
Chronic illness, as it affects both the sufferer and their carers, especially relationship partners is another area of interest. In particular, I have both professional counselling and personal experience of motor neurone disease, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and sleep disorders and the ways in which they affect relationships.
I also work with individual managers and small-business owners, with a focus on managing relationships and communication in business and in their personal lives.
