I also lead courses and groups for personal growth and communication and groups dealing with mens' issues, including behaviour change (anger management). Life IssuesLife issues can affect anyone at anytime. The loss of someone close, the stress of work or family, the realisation that our life is not going in the direction we want, can all lead to a feeling that we are not coping and that something needs to change. We may feel that we are in crisis or that we have specific problems in our work, family or relationship. Many of us suffer these life issues, believing "that's just how life is", or that the only choice we have is to endure pain and difficulty. In fact, most problems people face can be resolved or made substantially easier with the assistance of skilled counselling and psychotherapy. Counselling and psychotherapy can helpCounselling may be brief and focused on finding solutions to specific problems, or it may be a more extended exploration, where we learn to grow as a person. Psychotherapy focuses on deeper self-exploration and change. Healthy people choose counsellingCounselling is for healthy people! In the past, counselling and psychotherapy was seen as something you had if there was something wrong with you. These days there is a very different perspective. We recognise that many of us will face life challenges which are better faced with assistance. In fact, counselling and psychotherapy offer the opportunity to take responsibility for our lives.
